Usage Directions

How to use MediaTeam:

After adding MediaTeam Preview or MediaTeam Lite to your Groove Workspace (please see Groove documentation if you need help doing this), you can start using the tool.

  1. How to Add files: Once you have selected the tool in your workspace, click on the button "Add File" below the media review screen. This will bring up a common Windows "Open File" dialog. Navigate to the file you would like to add and then select. The media file will now be loaded into the file area within MediaTeam. You may repeat this process to add more files to the tool. MediaTeamLite users will also notice that each added file creates a new discussion topic in the attached discussion tool, which is shared with other workspace participants. Note: MediaTeamPreview users do not have access to the attached discussion tool.
  2. How to Delete files: Select the file you would like to delete and then using the "Delete File" button, delete it from MediaTeam. This will delete it from your local tool as well as any other participants who have access to the tool within the same Groove workspace. Deleting a file will not delete the corresponding discussion notes. Note: MediaTeamPreview users cannot delete files.
  3. How to review a media file:
    1. Local Review: Double-click on the media file that you would like to review. This will load it into the memory of the review tool. When it is fully loaded, the "Play" button will be enabled and you can then click it to begin the media file playback. You may then use the Stop, Reset, FFD (fast forward), RWD (rewind), and Loop buttons as applicable. Note: Not all digital media file formats support RWD.
    2. Team Review (only available to MediaTeamLite users): First, all reviewing participants must select the "Team Review" checkbox, below the reviewing screen. Second, one participant should select a piece of media for all participants to review (follow the instructions as outline above in Local Review). It will take a few moments for all participants' computers to receive the signal to load the file. Once the file is loaded on everyone's machine (this will become visible as only the "Play" button will be enabled, one participant may select the "Play" button which will trigger the other participant's machines to act accordingly. All participants at this time may hit the Play, Stop, Reset, FFD, RWD, and Loop buttons as they see appropriate.

Note: In Team Review Mode, a new file may NOT be selected and loaded into the review tool until the currently loaded and playing file has finished.

  4. How to use the Discussion tool:
    1. to Create a new topic, select the "New Topic" button above the tool.
    2. to Respond to an existing topic or response, select the topic or response that you want, and select the "Respond" button. This will create a blank response.
    3. to Delete a topic or response, select the delete button below the topic viewing window.
